John Powers Irish whiskey is on sale this month for $19.95. That's a good price (in Oregon, anyway) for a whiskey that's near as fine as Jameson's Irish and is on par with Tullamore Dew. John Powers Irish is creamier than the Tullamore Dew and the Jamesons. I wouldn't say it's better. It's different. Good. Like apples and oranges.
And here I've been drinking Maker's fucking Mark cause I was trying to duplicate this "Maker's Cup" drink I had at this sushi place, which is MM with muddled cucumber and a splash of ginger ale. Actually, the problem is that the wife has grown too many frikkin' cucumbers, so the drink sort of became a Maker's relish and wasn't really all that great for getting lost in at the end of the day. So maybe I'll be checking out this "John Powers" which sounds suspiciously like a euphemism, as in "I'm gettin' my John Powers on, Baby..."

and if you can, get hold of Glenmorangie... it was affordable in the UK but here in Aus it blows my budget - a once a year present if I'm lucky
